How to become a seller on House of Bid
There are two doors. A family settling one address lists on Sell at published Event or Yard prices with no application. A repeating auction business applies on Join, answers a short questionnaire about volume and setup, receives the fee structure by email the same day, and books a 30-minute call. Account review takes 24 to 48 hours.
Which door is yours?
If you are clearing one house after a death, a move, or a downsizing, you are a family — Sell and the published prices on Pricing are built for you, and there is nothing to apply for. If you run sales repeatedly as a business, you are a house, and Join is your path. One estate a year is not a house; four sales a month is not an Event.
What the questionnaire asks and why
How many sales you run a month, how big a typical catalog is, whether you have a website that can take a bid, what you mostly sell, where you sell today, and whether you run sales for other sellers. Those six answers decide which product actually fits, so the call starts from a real recommendation instead of twenty minutes of discovery questions.
What lands in your inbox
The fee structure, before anyone calls you. Flat monthly for the plan, never a percent of your hammer, with named and bounded overages that are shown before they bill. The exact rate card for your volume comes with the approval decision. Nothing on the call should be a number you are seeing for the first time.
What happens after you apply
You pick a 30-minute call slot yourself — slots open a day out so we have read your application first. Ops review the house inside 24 to 48 hours. Approval queues the rate card and account setup. We do review every house before it goes on the roof, and we do say no when the fit is wrong.
Questions
Do I need an invitation to bid?
- No. Bidders register a paddle and start immediately. Approval is only for sellers.
Can I be both an auction house and an estate sale company?
- Yes, and plenty are. They are different jobs and different pages — repeating catalogs live on Auction houses, in-home liquidation on Estate companies. Apply as whichever is the bigger part of your business and say so in the notes.
What if I do not have a website?
- That is a normal answer, not a disqualifier. We host one, build you one, or license the platform under your own brand. The questionnaire asks so the call covers the right one.
